Enrichment Class

Here at St. John’s Early Education Center, we have wonderful ways to extend your child’s day. Two days a week, we offer Enrichment for our four and five year old students who will be heading to kindergarten the following year. Enrichment Class extends the day until 2:00 p.m. and includes lunch, recess and extended learning through games, stories and hands on experiences. Enrichment Class often includes STEM activites such as bubble science, space exploration, magnetism and more! Monthly, the Enrichment Class also goes on a walking field trip to various places in Old Worthington. Students have walked to the Orange Johnson House Museum to see how people lived in nineteenth century Worthington; they have gone to Graeter’s to learn about how ice cream is made and to the local jewelry store to learn about rocks and gems.

Lunch Bunch

Lunch Bunch is offered Monday through Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. and is open to all students. Lunch Bunch kids pack their lunch and eat with peers in our lunch room prior to playtime in our indoor gym or outside on the playground. This relaxed hour provides more opportunities for social and emotional development and lots of fun! It is also great preparation for students who will be heading to an elementary school lunchroom when they go to kindergarten. Families can sign up weekly, monthly or for the whole year.

Art Club

We also have Art Club once a week for three eight week sessions (Fall, Winter & Spring). Art Club is offered to four and five year olds and also extends the day until 2:00 p.m. Art Club includes lunch, recess, an art lesson and project. Art Club students are given the opportunity to creatively express themselves using different mediums and materials including chalk, paint, markers, clay, beads, and paper-mache. Artists and projects are introduced through a story and demonstration and then students are given time to make their own creations with the provided materials. Art can be an invaluable tool for helping preschoolers develop fine-motor skills, problem-solving skills and math skills as they relate to shapes and space.

Fun Fridays

Fun Fridays are an add-on to any schedule. On Fun Fridays, students enjoy learning and socializing through engaging activites and opportunities to play. This class is usually smaller and can include three, four and five year olds. Weeks are themed and may include a walk to the library, time at a nearby park, or a STEM activity. It is a great way to end the week!
