September 2026
Dear SJEEC Families,
We have had such a wonderful start to the new school year! We have been anxiously awaiting the return of our students and are excited to have them back with us in our classrooms. This past week we were given four monarch caterpillars. We only had them for a day or two before they formed their chrysalis. Students in the Blue Room have been diving deep into metamorphosis this week. After reading The Very Impatient Caterpillar, students were wrapped in toilet paper and found themselves having to patiently wait for their own transformation. Preschool life is very much underway! We have already been making patterns, talking about life cycles, making new friends, making wonderful creations and even turning into beautiful butterflies.
These first couple of weeks can seem chaotic, but before long we will slip into a familiar rhythm. Drop off has been going well. Just a friendly reminder to keep your children buckled in their car seats until we are ready to help your child out of the car. We are happy to help any child unbuckle if they are unable to do so. Students are already adjusting to these new routines at drop-off and throughout their day, growing in independence and in confidence. It has been such a joy to watch this growth take place in such a short while. Preschool is a magical time in the lives of these children and we all feel so privileged to be a part of it.
Carrie
