November 2025

Dear SJEEC Families,

October was such a fun-filled month! We had so much fun celebrating the season with fall creations, a visit to the pumpkin patch, and a Halloween parade and carnival! We carved pumpkins, collected leaves, looked for signs of fall and made silly monsters.

In just two months, the children have grown so much! They are independently coming into the school, hanging up their bags, pulling out their snacks and water bottles and taking off their coats. Putting on their coats can be a bit more challenging, but with a little support, they can all do this independently too. Teaching them how to check to make sure their sleeves are right side out can help them with this task. It is easy to do things like this for our kids, but allowing them to do it for themselves builds confidence and encourages responsibility. Other age-appropriate tasks might include putting away toys and books when they are done using them, getting dressed in the morning (yes, even picking out what they want to wear), or setting the table for dinner. It is so easy to do all of these things for our children, but the joy your child will experience from being able to do things on their own that were once a bigger person’s job is well worth it.

This month, St. John’s will be participating in a Giving Tree ministry with the goal of helping to make the holidays a bit more magical for families in need who have children at Worthington Kilbourne Middle School. We are currently collecting wish lists from these families. More information will be coming shortly about how interested EEC families can participate.

And finally, looking ahead to January, enrollment will open up for the 2026-2027 school year. If you know families considering which preschool might be best for their child, please share a little bit about what makes St. John’s so special. Established in 1964, we are the oldest preschool in Worthington. We are also the only preschool in Old Worthington offering weekly Spanish classes to our three, four and five year olds. We believe in nurturing the whole child and incorporating the arts is an essential part of doing this. For this reason, we have art classes weekly and yoga and music classes bi-weekly for all age groups. And of course, please share your personal experiences. Your personal stories say the most about the high quality programs we provide. Thank you!
