ICE CREAM SOCIAL & BOOK FAIR
On Sunday May 20th St John’s Early Education Center will celebrate
40 years teaching of teaching French by their beloved “Madame”. Forty years ago St. John’s Preschool, as it had been known , welcomed Madame Barbara Hunecke (Smail) to the staff. She introduced children to the joys of learning another language.
“Madame” as her students fondly know her, is still teaching and bringing the love of language to this generation. Her students range from 3 to 5 years of age and are still mesmerized by her exuberant “bon jour”, “le tigre” , “tres bien” and can often be heard singing “Frere Jacques”.
We invite all present and future students as well as alumni to the celebration at St. John’s E. E. C., 700 High St., in Worthington, from 2-4 pm. The festivities will go on whether “il pleut” or “il fait
chaud”. It will be a wonderful opportunity for all to reminisce. St. John’s will also
celebrate receiving the 3 star Step Up To Quality award for the 3rd consecutive year.
Ice Cream will be provided as well as an opportunity to visit the classrooms.

Summer Camp Information
We are excited to announce our 2012 Summer Camp dates and to accept enrollment. Join us for our quality and fun filled summer program!
| Session 1 | Monday June 4 to Thursday June 7, 2012 |
| Session 2 | Monday, June 25 to Thursday, June 28, 2012 |
Cost $100.00 for one week, $190.00 for 1 child for both weeks or 2 children for one week.
Please enclose cash (no checks please) along with the completed registration form & drop off in the office.
Fees include all craft supplies and a snack!!

Step Up to Quality 3 Star Rating
Dear Parents,
Just to let you know we had our finial inspection on Monday from Step Up to Quality. We have again been recommended as a 3 star center. Thanks to all of you who turned in the ages and stages questionnaire. We are just waiting to hear official word but wanted to share the Great News with you. A huge thank you to all of the TEACHERS! Without their hard work this would not be possible. Thanks again for all of your support!

Enrollment for the 2012/13 School Year
Registration for the 2012/13 school year begins on January 18, 2012 for existing families, and January 27, 2012 for new families. To insure a place for your child in the class of your choice, please turn your application in on those dates.

About Our Program
St. John's Early Education Center was established in 1964 as an outreach program for St. John’s
Episcopal Church in
downtown Worthington, Ohio. The center’s program is based on a belief
in the uniqueness of every human being and the goal is to establish a good self-image. We
strive to provide quality, loving care for children Three, Four and Five years of age in a trusting
environment.
We believe that reaching out to each child where they are at the very moment of entering the
program is very important. Children are encouraged to learn and explore at their own speed in
areas that interest them. Teachers recognize that children come from different backgrounds and
experiences; they do not learn the same things at the same time in the same way!
Each of the classrooms provide children many opportunities for mental, physical and emotional
growth through a variety of creative experiences. Recognizing that young children learn as
they play with materials and share experiences, free play is considered an essential part of the
school day as well as routines and planned activities. Our teachers recognize the importance
of balanced growth. The schedule is flexible with provisions made to meet the needs of the
individual child.
We also offer a young 3’s class beginning in January. It has become quite popular as we are the
only school in the area to have a classroom for children who turn 3 by the end of January. It is
so much fun to see such little ones coming into their first school experience, so apprehensive
and tentative, and watch them blossom and grow. Our teachers are particularly perceptive to the
needs of that age group. They provide a trusting environment where children are comfortable
and welcome. Spots are limited to a small number of students which allows each child more
individualized attention from the teachers. Registration for this class begins in late October.
St. John’s Early Education Program is licensed by the State of Ohio. In addition, we are also
one of the first preschools in Central Ohio to attain a
3 Star Step Up to Quality rating. The
Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services (ODJFS) offer a voluntary rigorous inspection
service and grants centers either a one, two or three stars based on their findings. This program,
called Step Up To Quality distinguishes one center from another as going above and beyond
regulations to create an exceptional preschool program. Our teachers are all well qualified and
continue annually to keep their teaching skills and credentials current.
We have been awarded 3 stars for several years. Our preschool has a limited number of
spaces available each year and so parents are encouraged to visit the school, please call for an
appointment 614-885-2315 (M-F 9a-noon).

Worthington Schools are closed, we are also closed. Please watch the local TV channels (4, 6, 10) for cancellations in the morning. If Worthington schools are on a delay, we will be in session at the regular time. If you are in doubt please use your best judgment. Err on the side of safety.
